The project for the Black Sea region


BSCSIF participated in a conference on "Shaping a common project for the Black Sea", organized by the Eropean Parliament Socialists Group on 16th of March 2009.

Mr.  President Iulian Fota, Mr. Vice-president Dr. Eldar Hasanov and Mrs. Secretary General Zhyldyz Oskonbaeva participated in the conference on "Shaping a common project for the Black Sea", organized by European Parliament Socialist Groups. Within the conference, the initiative of Group’s Vice-presidents Hannes Swoboda and Jan Marinus Wiersma to create the Union for Black Sea that would promote cooperation with neighboring countries in region of Black Sea was discussed, and the importance of solidarity among EU Member States and political cohesion between them as elements that will enhance EU role in the Black Sea region was concluded.

The round table on “Shaping a common project for the Black Sea” is part of a series of round tables organized by the Socialist Group.

Participation in 12th Eurasian Economic Summit in Istanbul


Participation in 12th Eurasian Economic Summit in Istanbul, Turkey (May 6-8, 2009)

The 12th Eurasian Economic Summit, which took place in Istanbul, Tukey between 6th and 8th of May 2009 was organized by Marmara Group.  BSCSIF President of Iulian Fota, Vice-presidents Eldar Hasanov and Zhyldyz Oskonbaeva, as well as BSSCIF official representative to European Union institutions Mr. Marius Eugen Opran represented BSCSIF in the event.

Environment, Maritime Resources and Their Pollution


Organizing the Conference on "Environment, Maritime Resources and Their Pollution" (November 12th, 2009)

On November 12th, 2009, BSCSIF and Marmara Group Foundation organized the international conference entitled “Environment, Maritime Resources and Their Pollution". The event took place in WOW Convention Center of the World Trade Center in Istanbul, Turkey, and welcomed reputed professors and researchers from the region.  The conference was also attended by Mr. Veysel Eroglu, the Minister of Environment and Forests of Turkey, and moderated by Dr. Akkan Suver - Vice-president of BSCSIF and President of Marmara Group Foundation.

Reports of participants of conference included the actual data and information on the condition of water and ecosystems of the Black Sea, Caspian Sea and their region, and about the current state and international programs in the field:

- Prof. Dr. Orhan USLU – Bahcesehir University, Chairman of Department of Environmental Engineering "The Black Sea: Sustainability Issues of a Unique Ecosystem"

- Dr. Lidia ROMANCIUC – Director of Moldovan Research and Development Association "Pollutants transformation and natural water self purification"

- Prof. Tamaz BERADZE – State University of Georgia “Management of water resources and problems of wastewater management in Tbilisi”

- Ms. Zhyldyz Oskonbaeva – Secretary General of BSCSIF “Program: Water Resources after 5 years and beyond. Building Regional Initiative against Water Pollution”

- Dr. Eng. Ercan Citil, "Black Sea Trans- boundary Diagnostic Analysis and Cooperation at Regional Level"

- Prof. Gheorghe Duca – President of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Moldova "Management and Scientific Research of Water Quality in the Republic of Moldova"

- Prof. Dr. Aysegul Baysal Tanik- Istanbul Technical University, Instructor of Department of Environmental Engineering “Testing of Methodology on Spatial Planning for ICZM Akcakoca District Pilot Project"

- Prof. Dr. Ahmet Samsunlu- Istanbul Technical University, Instructor of Department of Environmental Engineering “Wastewater Pollution in Black Sea - The Istanbul Case"

- Mr. Ali Eskinat, Chief executive officer, Mr. Tansel Ozkusaksiz, Chief Technology Officer, Element Education Technologies Co. Inc. “E-learning, Educational Project”

The information presented at conference contributed to BSCSIF’s drafting of its further action plan in the field of environmental protection.
